Just Some "mgwino" Favorites of Late

Wine Description
Teira Sauvignon Blanc (4/15)
Funny thing is my buddy Dan Donahoe always thought his reds would set the pace for sales and yet his one white wine just keeps running out of supply. This Sauv Blanc is plenty crisp but the acidity is so soft it almost seems creamy.

Castello di Neive Arneis (5.50/20)
Sometimes called “white Barolo” by the locals in Piemonte(Italy), the Arneis wines can be frustrating to the New World palate. The Castello di Neive understanding is clean and fresh enough without sacrificing the cool complexity that keeps these wines sought after by many a wino.

Independent Producers Chardonnay (4.50/16)
A second label(of sorts) from the Hedges Family Estate, this Columbia Valley(Washington) Chardonnay is a steal for a single vineyard wine. It has all the buttery apple and pear you could want with a vibrant acid base that won’t let you get bored.

Les Hexagonales Pinot Noir (5/18)
Made by Loire wine rock star Jean-Francois Merieau, the Hexagonales Pinot reflects the mineral drive expected from Loire Valley wines without denying the light, clean, red fruit expected from this grape. This wine is light enough to chill and bold enough to stand up to most foods.

Teira Merlot (5/18)
It can get difficult for a wino to find Merlot wines that showcase the subtle profile of the grape. Seems like everybody wants it to be Cab. Donahoe “keeps it real” here with a round Merlot personality gaining only slight muscle from a splash from the two Cabs(Franc & Sauv), giving us a pleasant house red.

Teira Zinfandel (4.50/16)
This old-fashioned Zin has been a favorite of mgwino for some time. The ripe fruit is kept in check by zingy acidity and biting spice. There is nothing wrong with fruit(otherwise I’d just order Vodka), but this wino prefers texture and character to lead the charge and this is simply the way Zin should be.
